Attack of the Pony Rototiller

I'm borrowing my friend Nate's "Pony" tiller and I was preparing our "new" garden for the winter this past Saturday. Tilling a new garden is difficult b/c the soil is hard and full of "big" rocks. The tiller's rotating tines want to propel me and the tiller forward at a rapid velocity instead of chopping up the soil. So I say, "WOOOOAH, there little pony. WOOOAH!"
It had knocked me off balance and I was falling forward as it began to accelerate across the grass. My momentum carried me over top of the rotating tines. My knee hit something; OUCH! Thankfully, none of my limbs or phalanges were decapitated by the tines.
So it looks like our kitchen floor will finally be installed this weekend. Our friend Dave is driving down from Williamsport to help me. I was going to attempt it myself this weekend but now someone who has actually laid vynl before will be here to help me.
Our daughter M~ turns two soon. We are a having a party with my family at our house. I'm excited. The garden should be ready for winter by then. J~ has been ambitiously painting this week, even in her very pregnant state. It will be nice to show my family we got some things done.

Ever Been Bitten by an Earwig?

I'm curious if you have personally been bitten by an earwig. My wife says they can pinch and penetrate human skin. I'm skeptical but kinda afraid to test my theory.

Me a Plumber?

10am :: We shall see. I'm going to attempt to replace the faucet in our bathroom now. It will involve a propane torch and solder. Hopefully I don't burn the row down. Stay tuned...

1:45pm :: I cut 2 copper pipes, removed 2 soldered elbows and soldered 2 valves into place. My wife helped me turn the cold water on while she watched the valve for leaks. So far, so good. I am not at all confident in my pipe soldering abilities. We will see how it looks after a few thermal cycles. I haven't turned the hot water back on yet.

8pm :: Both hot and cold water are on to whole house except the sink where I installed the valves and faucet. I used tub & tile latex caulk to seal the drain and faucet base. Yea, the directions said to use plumber's puddy but the puddy I found and bought said not to use it on plastic. Well, everything the faucet directions said to put puddy on was plastic (except for the sink surface) so I decided to use caulk instead. If it doesn't work out I will have to re-install the drain and faucet at the cost of another hour. Oh, the bummer is that we can't get the caulk wet for 36 hours. Wednesday morning will be the first we can use that sink with the new faucet. (tick tock)

So You Can PRAY!

The end of all things is near,
therefore be clear-minded
and self controlled
so that you can PRAY!
~ 1 Peter 4:7 ~

"Do you want to be a person of power? Then you must be a person of prayer."
Pastor Chet Barofski

"Prayer is not preparation for the ministry, IT IS THE MINISTRY."
Campus Crusade for Christ

I believe in the power of prayer. I want to see God acting on my behalf and for those that I pray for. The Bible says that the "effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much." I want to be that man. In the Christian walk this where we separate the "men from the boys". Prayer. Why is prayer so difficult? It is such a simple task but it takes energy, persistence and a cleansed and forgiven heart. Prayer is essential work for all Christians who desire to experience God's power in their lives.
For followers of Christ (like me) who are tired of just "living", going through the motions of "being Christian"; we need to get praying. If we are tired of losing the battles with temptations in our lives; we need to get praying. If we are tired of being mediocre spouses and parents; we need to get praying. If we are tired of watching and complaining about the sin and trouble around us in our communities; we need to get praying. Prayer should be the trademark of every follower of Christ.
Christ is man of prayer; IS a man of prayer. The Bible teaches that even now, constantly, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us in heaven before the King of Heaven. When Christ was alive as a human on this earth his trademark was prayer. He depended on his communication with his Father. Christ, God's own son, depended on prayer. How much more should we, God's adopted children, depend on prayer?

"God, help me to be a man of prayer. Help me to depend more on you and less on me."
