Mmmmm, Pastured Poultry is Yummy!

Did you ever wonder how they get those Clementines to look so perfect all the way from Spain? Read the fine print on that fancy wooden crate and you will be educated. I wonder how healthy they really are...

Thanksgiving was almost 3 weeks ago. We decided to stay home because my wife was nearly due with our second child. Thank goodness for Breakaway Farms! We had just received a 20+ pound half turkey from Nate. Thank goodness the half fit in the roaster bag! This bird must have been massive! We thoroughly enjoyed the turkey. It was tasty and filling. Plus, it felt good to know where it came from; that it ate good wholesome, organic, grain along with the grass, bugs and treats it found in the pasture where it lived.

Yesterday my Mother-in-law was with us for Sunday dinner. We roasted one Breakaway Farms pastured chickens. Some chickens from the grocery store don't have much taste even though they look yellow. This 5.4lb chicken's legs and thighs fed 3 adults and 1 toddler. We didn't even touch the breasts! Granted, some of us consumed inordinate amounts of sour cream with our potatoes but this chicken fills you up! It tastes delicious and isn't so oily like the grocery store chicken.

We are looking forward to receiving our first order of Breakaway Farm's salad bar beef in a few weeks. We gladly spend part our limited food budget on clean, healthy meats from Breakaway Farms. I'd rather see our friend, FarmerNate, make a profit than the local grocery store who would probably build a stadium or arena with it's name on it.
